Professor Ken'ichi Kawaguchi works at the Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from the Department of Architecture at Waseda University, Japan, with a bachelor's degree in 1985, and later received his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Tokyo in 1988 and 1991, respectively. His main research directions include deployable structures, tensegrity structures, and structural damping and seismic isolation. He has published over 300 academic papers and more than 20 monographs, and has received numerous awards in the international field of building structures. He has served as the Head of the Department of Architecture at the University of Tokyo and is currently the Vice President of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS) and the Vice President of the Architectural Institute of Japan. Professor Ken'ichi Kawaguchi has visited Southeast University eight times since 2013 and has a long-term cooperative relationship with the National Prestressed Engineering Research Center of Southeast University. Since 2009, they have jointly supervised several doctoral and master's students and co-published multiple journal papers.
