Training of Faculty Members

SCE focuses on the constant training of faculty members in order to improve their ability in teaching, research, and other activities. All new faculty members are required to attend the training and examinations in professional ethics for college faculty members, higher education policies and regulations, higher education pedagogy, and higher education psychology. They can get the teacher certification after passing the examinations. In the technical post promoting system, the faculty members are required to at least obtain a nomination award in the teaching competition. There are also national and provincial teaching competitions for faculty members to attend every year under the guidance of senior experts. This greatly enhances the teaching ability of new faculty members. Meanwhile, undergraduate students would evaluate the faculty members to let them recognize where they can improve. Each year, the Faculty Development Center of SEU organizes many activities, which includes specific activities for new faculty members, middle-aged faculty members, and teaching administration cadres, utilization of new teaching equipment and facilities, panel discussions for experience sharing, and so on. In addition, many other activities will be hosted by SCE or departments to promote communication among faculty members and to share experience in teaching and researches. Teaching Achievements

SCE has an excellent tradition of teaching. It places great emphasis on the quality of teaching resources. After years of development, SCE now has several national and provincial certified teaching teams, subjects, and experimental teaching centers. Here shows some teaching awards received in recent years. The awards include national teaching achievement awards conferred by China's Ministry of Education and provincial teaching achievement awards conferred by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education. The national teaching achievement award is the highest honor in the field of education in China. It was granted every four years. The SCE has obtained six national teaching achievement awards, including two first prizes and four second prizes.
