Professor Charalampos Gantes is a Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and Director of the Research Center for Steel Structures. He obtained his Diploma in Civil Engineering from NTUA in 1985, and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1988 and 1991, respectively. His research primarily focuses on the nonlinear behavior of steel structures under extreme loads, including seismic, wind, and blast actions. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the International Association for Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS), is a member of the IASS Executive Committee, and holds the position of Vice President of the Greek Steel Structures Association.
